Bangla Sangeet Mela; A Celebration of the Melodies of Bengal inaugurated by West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee



Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal inaugurated the Bangla Sangeet Mela at Nazrul Mancha. The seven days musical extravaganza will see many eminent artists from the world of music being honored with Sangeet Samman and Sangeet Maha Samman awards. This was declared by the Chief Minister of West Bengal Ms. Mamata Bandopadhyay.


The first Sangeet Samman was awarded to musical legends like late Manna Dey, Sandhya Mukherjee and Dwijen Mukhopadhyay. The Chief Minister also revealed that a handbook will also be created which will contain the names of the musicians who have performed in the various art forms. This hand book will be released on Poila Boisakh, the Bengali New Year’s Day.


Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya was honored with Sangeet Maha Samman award at the inauguration ceremony by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal.

Sangeet Maha Samman was also presented to artists like Kabir Suman, Bickram Ghosh, Tanmoy Ghosh, Swapan Gupta and Pramita Mullick.


The recipients of the Jatiyo Sangeet Samman include Sraboni Sen, Saikat Mitra, Anupam Roy, Gautam Ghosh, Antora Chowdhury, Pratap Ray, Swapan Basu and others.

The closing ceremony of this seven day long musical extravaganza will take place at Rabindra Sadan on the 19th of February.
