Rituparna Sengupta Film Festival
A three day retrospective of the films acted by Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta was held at Nandan 3. Organized by Nandan and Cinema Theque, the event “Retro Ritu” saw six of her Bengali movies being screened for the audience.
The event was inaugurated in the august presence of Rituparna Sengupta, Jeet, Debdut Ghosh, Sreela Majumdar, Prabhat Roy, Reshmi Ghosh and many other celebrities from the Tollywood film fraternity.
The event has been conceptualized by director Reshmi Ghosh and Rituparna’s long time friend. Speaking at the occasion Reshmi Ghosh said “Retrospectives are usually done after the person has passed away. But I thought of doing this so as to acknowledge the contribution of Rituparna Sengupta to films. She is not only a good actress but an equally good human being. That is the reason why she has being the Numero Uno actress in Bengali films for so long”.
With Prabhat Roy’s film Swet Pathorer Thala, Rituparna made her debut in Bengali films. The director divulged the secret of Rituparna’s coming late for shootings and events. “This is nothing new as she had been doing this since her first film. I bear testimony to this fact. She does not do this to show her star power or charisma, but she simply does not calculate the travelling time. This makes her late for shoots and events” said the ace director with a smile.
A book was also released on Rituparna Sengupta by all the guests present on the dais.
Some of the films shown in the retrospective include Paromitar Ekdin, Alo, Mukti, Charulata 2011, Piyalir Password and Bhorer Alo.
