The release of the book Something Happened on the Way to Heaven, edited by Sudha Murty took place at Starmark.
The book Something Happened on the way to Heaven is a compilation of twenty real life stories. These inspiring stories are about those individuals who are bound to leave an impression on the minds of the readers. These individuals are those whom the author had come across in her career as a social worker. The stories are real life stories which have been selected by Sudha Murty from a contest which was conceived and organized by Penguin Books. The stories capture the various emotions like hope, joy, kindness which one experiences in real life. This anthology will help the reader to ascertain their firm belief in the goodness of the human heart.
Sudha Murty is both a renowned writer and a noted social worker. She began her career as an engineer and computer scientist. She is also the chair person of the Infosys Foundation and an active member of the health care initiatives undertaken by the Gates Foundation. Apart from her stint as a writer and a social worker, Sudha Murty has also acted in the Marathi film Pitruroon and the Kannada film Prarthana.
She has written novels, technical books, travelogues, collections of short stories and non-fictional pieces and four books for children. Her books have been translated into all the major Indian languages. Sudha Murty was the recipient of ‘The R. K. Narayan Award for Literature’ and ‘The Padma Shri’ in 2006 and ‘The Attimabbe Award’ from the Government of Karnataka for excellence in Kannada literature in 2011.
