“Friendship is a great and eternal bond. Without friendship, life becomes dull and boring” revealed actress Rituparna Sengupta in between her shots. The actress was busy shooting for her upcoming Bengali film Aro Ekbar in a house located near Shyambazar. Present at the shooting were actor Firdaus and actress Sayani Ghosh.
The story of the film Aro Ekbar is about three friends- Jhumur, Malobika and Iraboti. They are actually college friends who meet each other after a long gap of twenty five years. After this meeting, how their lives are affected and what happens to their friendship is what the film is all about. The film essentially is focused on highlighting friendship.
Roopa Ganguly(Iraboti), Indrani Halder (Malobika) and Rituparna Sengupta (Jhumur) play the roles of the three college friends who reunite after the long gap. Roopa Ganguly plays the role of a housewife whose life revolves around her husband and her only son. Jhumur is a divorcee who finds love after her divorce. Indrani Halder’s character is that of a widow with a daughter. They return back to Kolkata from Delhi after her husband’s death.
The scene which was being enacted had Jhumur excitedly relating to Avantika (Malobika’s daughter) about her finding love. Despite being Malobika’s friend, Jhumur was junior to them at college and the age difference with Avantika is also less. Hence Avantika becomes excited on hearing about this new man in Jhumur’s life.
“I must thank Smriti Lala for actually developing such a concept on girl bonding. It is a good project” added Rituparna Sengupta.
The shooting of the film is already being done at Rabindra Sarobar Lake and this will continue in various parts of the city.
