Colors Bangla (erstwhile ETV Bangla) will begin operations with a brand new musical show titled Great Music Gurukul. The new show is currently being shot at DRR Studios, Rajarhat.
The new music show will have thirty two contestants who will prove their mettle in the music show off. Four renowned singers namely Kavita Krishnamurthy, Hariharan, Jeet Ganguly and Javed Ali have been roped in to act as the mentors of this prestigious show. The top 24 contestants in the show have already been selected by the judges. Each judge will have six contestants under him or her.
Speaking on the occasion, music composer and also a judge of this show, Jeet Ganguly said “This is my first reality show. I am extremely excited to share the stage with such respected musicians like Kavita ji and Hari ji. I have told the contestants to make the most of this opportunity and learn the best things that they can from Hari ji and Kavita ji, as they are not always available. Even our numbers are given to them so that they can contact at any time and state their problems”.
Javed Ali who is taking Bengali lessons from Jeet Ganguly also revealed that he had been gifted a Bengali alphabet book by Jeet Ganguly. “There is no dearth of talent in Bengal. Look at any corner of the state and you will find talents everywhere. Though the contestants will be divided under each mentor, they are free to take the advice from the other judges too. They are here to learn and they must make the most of this opportunity” said singer Javed Ali.
Great Music Gurukul is the first show with a Gurukul like setup in Bengali television. Fame Gurukul in Hindi television however was aired years ago.
The show has been directed by Ashim Sen and the creative director of the show is Deep Chanda.
The Great Music Gurukul will begin from 13th April and shall be aired every Monday to Wednesday from 9 to 10 pm.
