The Bishwa Bandhan Foundation (India) for Cerebral Palsy organized the first medical symposium on “Possible Preventive Measures of Cerebral Palsy” at Crystal Hall, Taj Bengal. The Hon’ble Governor West Bengal, Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi in the presence of the former Governor of West Bengal Shri M.K.Narayanan, former Governor of Chhattisgarh Shri Shekhar Dutt and renowned actress Rituparna Sengupta inaugurated the symposium.
The medical symposium was initiated to establish a dedicated institutional set up for the proper treatment of the disease with ultra modern rehabilitation therapies besides providing possible preventive measures. It also aims to make people aware about cerebral palsy through different medical seminars, symposiums and publishing different research papers.
The medical symposium witnessed the launch of website and official publication of safer society logo by the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal Keshari Nath Tripathi. This was followed by the signature of Mou between Bishwa Bandhan Foundation (India) for Cerebral Palsy with Indian Medical Association (IMA), Institute of Child Health, Kolkata, BIRTH, Kolkata, Society For Welfare of Children, Kolkata.
The session one included discussion by Dr Suchandra Mukherjee (Prf. & Head, Dept. Of Neonatology, SSKM & IPGMER), Dr Pradip Mitra (Dir. IPGM & R, Kolkata ), Dr. Tridib Banerjee, Chairman, HLTF, Govt. of WB. The second session experienced a discussion by Dr Chandan Banerjee, MBBS, DCH, FAMS, President, IMA, Dr. Monidipa Banerjee, Clinical Dir, Dept. of Ped & CGC, Peerless Hosp., Dr. Mrs Sakuntala Chakraborty, Ex-HOD, Med College. This was followed by a cultural program “Forest Of Bliss: Benaras” a choreography by Smt Sharmistha Mukherjee and her troupe and “Sound of Soil”, celebrating diversity of rhythm by Pt. Tanmoy Bose.
