Calcutta Art Biennale

In the august presence of Subodh Sirkar, Niranjan Pradhan, Bickram Ghosh and Ramananda Bandopadhyay and other eminent personalities, the Calcutta Art Biennale 2015 was inaugurated at Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Kolkata.

This Biennale is taking place in the city under the license of European Art Society of London and organized by Roymans Art Studio (London, Ankara, Calcutta). Prior to this event held in Kolkata, Roymans has already organized eight annual International Art exhibitions in India, The UK and The Netherlands.

Over two hundred art works from several master, senior and contemporary conventional artists, photographers and graphic artists are displayed at this exhibition. The artists are from the four continents- Asia, Europe, America and Africa.

With this initiative happening in the city, many local artists will now get the opportunity to participate in this Global Licensed Biennale in the city. They will not have to incur high transportation costs as a result. They can become a Biennale artist sitting in the city itself. This is one of the main objectives of this Biennale.

European Art Society and Roymans Art Studio also honored musician Pulok Sarkar with Grand Maestro-Piano award at the inauguration event.

The exhibition also has a special Charity Corner where the art works from the artists will be on sale to collect money for the Roymans Charity, which funds education for under privileged girls in West Bengal.

The Calcutta Art Biennale 2015 will continue till the 19th of April.
