New Bengali Audio Music Album Geet-Gobindo Launched; Fusion of Brajabuli and Bengali Presented by Purab Pal

New Bengali Audio Music Album Geet Gobindo Launched

Geet-Gobindo, a music album consisting of songs written by Gobindadas was recently inaugurated in the august presence of Director Arindam Sil and singer Upal Sengupta.

Geet-Gobindo is a musical fusion of a different nature. The common fusion music trend is to fuse different ragas or different music genres. But in this music album, musician Purab Pal has included verses of Gobindadas written in Brajabuli (from sixteenth century) along with contemporary Bengali verses written on the same context. Hence the fusion is not limited to music alone but spreads to expression of words across different ages.

The vocals of this album have been done by Purab Pal and Raktima Ghosh. The sound arrangement has been handled by Kaustav Sen Borat.

Speaking at the occasion, director Arindam Sil said “I listened to him a few years back and I was very impressed. Purab deserves appreciation because not all young boys will think of doing such a fusion music album. They mostly tend to bring out albums on the contemporary music. This proves the level of understanding that Purab has or else it would not have been possible for him to write the Bengali lyrics of the songs”.

The Brajabuli verses of Gobindadas refer to the seven stages namely Abhisar, Rupollas, Milon, Maan, Akrur Sangbad, Birohoor Maathur and Leela. The songs have been named after the stages for the easy reference.

The music album brought by 55DB is priced at Rs 100.
