On the occasion of Satyajit Ray’s birth anniversary, Starmark, in association with the Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray Archives, unveiled ‘Short Takes’, a unique notebook containing works of the legendary director. The notebook was unveiled in the presence of Satyajit Ray’s son and eminent filmmaker Sandip Ray at the Rays’ residence. Also present on this occasion were Gautam Jatia, CEO, Starmark, Arup Kumar De, Ray Society CEO and Pinaki De, the designer of the notebook.
The Ray notebook titled ‘Short Takes’ is a collaborative venture between Starmark and the Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray Archives.
Priced at Rs 225/- and published by Starmark, the notebook has featured posters from the different films directed by Satyajit Ray namely Pather Panchali; Aparajito; Jalsaghar; Apur Sansar; Kanchenjunga; Abhijaan; Mahanagar; Charulata; Nayak; Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne; Aranyer Din Ratri; Asani Sanket; Sonar Kella; Gahre Baire and Aguntuk.
Starmark has also created its own unique brand of stationery items similar to this notebook, titled ‘Short Takes’ which is a tribute to Satyajit Ray. This notebook contains an interesting foreword by Sandip Ray about Ray’s graphic world in this collectors’ delight. The notebook also contains short interesting anecdotes about Satyajit Ray’s films by Debashish Mukhopadhyay, a well-known Ray research scholar.
An interesting piece of news for the book lovers!! Starmark also has plans to publish a Feluda notebook next year to mark Feluda’s 50th anniversary followed by a ‘Sandesh’ omnibus.
