New Multilingulum Book on Poems Triangulum Launched
In the august presence of ace Kolkata singers Nachiketa Chakraborty, Srikanta acharya, Lopamudra Mitra, Joy Sarkar, Mahua Lahiri, Dr. Barin Roy and others, the launch of Triangulum took place at Starmark, South City Mall.
Triangulum is a book of poems in three languages namely English, Bengali and Hindi. The book has been written by Sushmita Gupta, Sushmita Basu Majumdar and Rajib Chakraborty.
The book begins with the poetry section in Hindi followed by the Bengali and the English sections. Each author has written twenty one poems for the book. The book has been divided into three sections. The first three sections have been allotted to the authors who have penned down their thoughts in their respective languages. The last section is the Jugalbandi section. This is the experimental section where a particular poem has both Hindi and Bengali lines. This kind of experimentation in poetry was not attempted before in Kolkata. This idea has been taken from an early medieval text named Raghav Pandaviyam where the characters of Mahabharata and Ramayana co-mingle in the same story.
Speaking at the occasion Srikanto Acharya said “Getting a book to read is always a pleasure. Even in this age of e-books, I still long to get a book in my hands, get the smell of the book and read the book at my leisure”.
An additional section consisting of five paintings of M. F. Hussain and Ganesh Pyne has also been included in the book. These paintings have been published for the first time.
The book is readily available at the book stores all over the city.
With the scorching heat outside, chances are you will spend the afternoon in your homes. Make sure you buy a copy of this book of poems. It will surely brighten up the afternoons.
