NIPS School of Hotel Management, one of the most prestigious hotel management institutes of Eastern India successfully concluded Gastronomix 2015- a unique intra college cooking competition. The grand finale of Gastronomix 2015 witnessed some delicious dishes being made by the students. The competition was conceptualized with the sole aim of testing the culinary and presentation skills of the students.
The competition began on 20th April ’15 and was divided into various stages leading up to the quarter finals, semi finals and the grand finale. 42 teams participated in the competition. Each team consisted of 4 members out of whom the deserving 15 teams made it to the grand finale. At every stage the contestants were given a particular theme and a set of ingredients with which they were to concoct a signature dish within a given timeframe.
The grand finale of Gastronomix 2015 was graced by the presence of stalwarts from the food and hospitality industry who judged the competition and applauded the innovative food ideas of the students.
The panel of judges at Gastronomix 2015 consisted of Chef Madhumita Mohanto – Executive Chef, The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata Chef Jayanta Banerjee – Executive Chef, Park Plaza, Kolkata, Chef Bhaskar Bhattacharjee – Executive Chef, Park Prime, Kolkata, Mr. Shiv Kumar Mahapatra – Learning & Development Manager, ITC-Sonar, Mr. Sudipta Halder – Training Manager, The Lalit Great Eastern. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Vivek Pathak, Director, NIPS School of Hotel Management and Celebrity Chef Joseph Uttam Gomes, Deputy Director, NIPS School of Hotel Management.
Gastronomix 2015 was indeed a great leaning platform for the budding and aspiring chefs in the city.
