Upcoming Bengali Film Pachar by Prajna Dutta brings to light the Unseen Nuances of Women and Child Trafficking



Pachar(working title) is a film which probes deep into the problems associated with women and child trafficking. West Bengal faces this problem acutely as a huge number of children and women are trafficked from this state regularly.


The film Pachar comprises of four different stories which are inspired by real life stories. They are linked by an investigation. The film is being supported by Bidhan Nagar Police Commisionarete, Sonata Foundation and Team Taurus and is directed by Prajna Dutta.


This film will serve as a tool to generate awareness among the masses against Women and Child trafficking. The film stars Nigel Akkara in the role of a tough cop and also has special appearances by real top cops of the Kolkata police department like Kankar Prasad Barui, Debasish Dhar and Papiya Sultana to name a few. The film also stars Shantilal Mukherjee, Saurav Banerjee, Suman Saha, Sreeja Sarkar, Anindita Sarakar, Nabanita Chakaraborty and Suholina Sen.

About seventy percent of the shoot is complete and post productions will begin from the middle of June. This film is about not losing hope, standing up for yourself, raising your voice and fighting for a better tomorrow. After
all it is hope that help one to smile even in darkness.

The film is slated for release by the end of July.
