International Cookbook Planet Gastronomy Launched by June Maliah

“For me travel is food, and hence wherever I go, I make it a point of trying out the local cuisines. This helps in understanding the culture of the place. When I come back home, I make it a point to try and recreate the recipes” said food stylist and painter Ananya Banerjee at the launch of her first cookbook titled “Planet Gastronomy- 100 most popular global recipes” at Starmark, Quest Mall.


Present at the book launch ceremony were June Maliah, Agnimitra Paul, Rakhi Purnima Dasgupta, Rita Bhimani, Kishore Bhimani, Mala Roy, Sadhan Pandey, Sovan Chatterjee and others.

The book Planet Gastronomy is a compilation of hundred global recipes from about sixty different countries. “The fact that I got many recipes on the internet but could not get it in a book compelled me to write the book. Moreover I thought that making global dishes in your home is a problem as many ingredients are not available locally. I have used the best substitute and mentioned them in the book. I have literally poured my heart into the book. Even for the vegetarian food lovers, I have suggested the alternatives that they can use instead of fish and meat” said the writer.


Some of the mouth watering recipes that one can find in the book include Paella, Gazpacho, Jollof Rice, Blini, Swedish Meatballs, Bobotie, Som Tam, Chelo Kebab, Hummus, Nasi Goreng, Egg Tarts, Kimchi, Tempura, Adobo, Kashmiri Rogan Josh, Ceviche, Poutine and many others.

The book has been published by Popular Prakashan and is priced at Rs 595.
