Saraswati Puraskar Award Night

Raga Music organized Saraswati Purashkar 2015 to award those eminent personalities in the field of art and music who have made lifelong contributions in these fields. The event took place at ICCR recently.


Veteran singer Haimanti Shukla and Padmashree Purnadas Baul were awarded on the occasion. Apart from these two musical stalwarts, awards were also given in different categories like bestsellers (pop), bestsellers (Rabindrasangeet), best music composer and Sreshtho Kobi Award.

Apart from the awards presented to the winners in the various categories, two music albums were also launched at the occasion. The music albums were presented by Raga Music.


The first album was Krishnakoli Ami Tarei Boli by Chitrarupa Gupta, the music of which has been composed by eminent composer Kalyan Sen Borat.

The second album was a folk album titled “Khepa Khepir Akhra” by Sahaj Ma and Utpal Fakir. Speaking at the occasion, Sahaj Ma said “The songs are those which we have heard from other folk singers. Many songs are so uncommon that even many folk singers are also not aware of them. This will surely be loved by those who appreciate such folk songs”.


Singer Indrani Sen received the award for her album “Ami E Kadambari” where she also recited apart from lending her voice to the songs in the album. Sidhu received the award for his album Letters from Siliguri.

The poets who were awarded at the ceremony were Subodh Sarkar and Subho Dasgupta. The best music composer award was bagged by Kalyan Sen Borat for the album Icchemotir Goppo- Saat Narir Kotha.

Saraswati Purashkar 2015 therefore saw the best performers from the world of music and art been appreciated and awarded.
