Upcoming Bengali film Choukaath
Raja Dasgupta’s upcoming Bengali film Choukaath-the Threshold’s poster and trailer launch event took place recently at The Weaver’s Studio. Present at the occasion were director Raja Dasgupta, Sreelekha Mitra, Saayoni Ghosh, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Bidipta Chakraborty, producer Kausik Mitra and others.
Director Raja Dasgupta who was tightlipped about the plot of the film revealed some facts about the upcoming film. “I will not tell much about the film as that will take away the interest from the film. Choukaath is a very simple story. Whether one should trust the facts or test the authenticity of the facts presented is a dilemma which many of us face. With this film we have tried to delve deep into such crisis faced by a modern household” said the director.
Saayoni Ghosh who plays the role of the journalist in the film said “My character’s name is Kanika Dutta. This role has interesting layers and with the introduction of this character in the film, the pace of the film changes”. The feisty actress also added that the script is the hero of the film and good actors and actresses are assets of any film.
Sreelekha Mitra plays the role of Deboleena in the film. “This is the first time that I have developed a friendship with the producer of my film. Thank you Kausik for being such a wonderful person!! You ensured that we all had a great time during the shoot of the film” said the actress.
The character of Ranajay has been enacted by Tota Roy Chowdhury. Speaking at the occasion, the actor said “We still stay in touch with each other even after the shoot has been completed. This is a small budget film and we all have put in our best efforts to make the film”.
Bidipta Chakraborty highlighted on the aspect that despite stating facts about position of women in society or women’s rights, this is not a feminist film. It showcases the perspective of both the genders. This according to the actress is the beauty of the script.
Produced by Kausik Mitra Films, the film is eyeing for release on the 31st of July, 2015.
