Graphic Novel Boxer Launched
Starmark organized the launch of its latest graphic novel The Boxer, an English adaptation of Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay’s Boxer Ratan at its South City Mall outlet. Sarbajit Sen, an eminent Kolkata-based graphic novelist has recreated the story into a graphic novel.
The launch of the graphic novel was followed by a panel discussion in which the participants were Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Sarbajit Sen, cartoonist, graphic novelist and a National award-winning filmmaker, Anindya Chatterjee, award-winning lyricist, singer, composer, actor, filmmaker, Abhijit Gupta, Associate Professor of English at Jadavpur University, Director, Jadavpur University Press and author of several books, Supreeta Singh, Head, PR & Events, The Park and a former journalist, and Pinaki De, well-known graphic designer and illustrator.
Speaking at the occasion, Sarbajit Sen said “I have gone through books on boxing and also watched matches so that the illustration looks realistic. This will help readers to communicate with the story”.
Supreeta Singh was excited to get a copy of the book. She said “I love reading graphic novels. For people like me who have problems reading Bengali, novels of this kind is a blessing. They can read these wonderful stories”.
The Boxer, published by Starmark, has been priced at Rs 225/- .
