The year 2015 happens to be the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Bengali sleuth Feluda – the master creation of Satyajit Ray. Feluda happens to be one of the finest and most popular detectives in fiction. Such is his popularity that many films have been made on the sleuth over the years!
Feluda stories are all time bestsellers and 8 of them are also adapted to landmark films in Bangla. The first two “Sonar Kella” and “Joy Baba Felunath” was directed by Satyajit Ray himself and are undoubtedly two classics of all time. So Radio Mirchi decided to do the “Mirchi Feluda 50” – the biggest Feluda Festival ever.
The grand inauguration was graced by the presence of the first screen Feluda Mr. Soumitra Chatterji himself along with Sandip Ray, Abir Chatterji, Koel Mallick and others.
Radio Mirchi is celebrating “Mirchi Feluda 50” with a double bonanza both on radio and also on celluloid. The landmark Mirchi show “Sunday Suspense” is being celebrated with eight Feluda stories on air together with the screening of seven Feluda movies at Priya Cinema from 31st July to 6th August on the evening show.
Sonar Kella marked the beginning of “Mirchi Feluda 50” on 31st July at Priya Cinema. This will be followed by Gorosthane Sabdhan (1st August’2015), Tintorettor Jishu (2nd August’2015), Badshahi Angti (3rd August’2015), Royal Bengal Rahasya (4th August’2015), Kaiashe Kelenkari (5th August’2015) and Joy Baba Felunath on 6th August’2015.
The screening will be made all the more special by – an exhibition of exclusive photographs, courtesy the Satyajit Ray Society, shot by Sandip Ray himself during the shooting of the film, along with a display of sketches and illustrations by Ray.
