New Bengali Film Besh Korechi Prem Korechi Review; Enjoy it if you can!

The very name of Raja Chanda’s recently released film Besh Korechi Prem Korechi will remind you of the yesteryear song from the film Mouchak starring Ranjit Mullick. The new film however stars Mr. Mullick’s daughter Koel along with Jeet, in pivotal roles.

The film Besh Korechi prem Korechi is about a young man named Aditya who helps in the elopement of a don’s sister. The don begins a search for the guy who helped in the elopement of his sister. As luck would have it, Aditya falls in love with Rai who is the younger sister of the same don. What follows is a cat and mouse chase between the don and Abhi.

Raja Chanda’s Besh Korechi Prem Korechi is nothing novel when it comes to storyline or treatment. The Bengali audiences have watched such films multiple times. The hero helping the elder sister of a don to elope and ultimately falling in love with the younger sister is an oft repeated story in commercial Bengali films for the past few years. A few seated in the audience even found resemblances with Dev, Shrabanti starrer Sedin Dekha Hoechilo with Besh Korechi Prem Korechi. However the silver lining is that the film does not bore you and this is indeed a blessing. There is enough drama, songs shot at foreign locales and dialogues to keep the audiences engaged.

Acting by the cast is nothing spectacular and borders more on the overacting side. Koel Mullick should now seriously focus on different roles as she has become too repetitive in the roles that she has been choosing in her last released films. She sleepwalks through the role in the film and is too loud at times. Jeet is busy showcasing his charisma as Adi and this leaves very less place for the Jeet-Koel chemistry to prosper on screen. In their twelfth film together, it saddens me to write that the duo had minimal chemistry on screen. Asish Vidyarthi, despite being such a fantastic actor is also wasted in the film. Shataf Figar has a blink and you miss it role. Kharaj Mukherjee and Biswajit Chakraborty maintain the comic timing well but even they become loud at times. Parijat Chakraborty is too absolutely unbearable in the film!!

Music by Jeet Gannguli will not stay in the mind of the audience for long. They lack the retentive quality which we find in the other songs composed by the ace composer.

In short, Besh Korechi Prem Korechi is full of style and action. Do not look for anything novel and you will not be disappointed.
