Since inception in 1995, Shree Venkatesh Films (P) Ltd. has produced over 85 films of varied genres ranging from critically acclaimed parallel films to commercial blockbusters. Although the quality of the films produced in terms of production value, content, cinematography is almost at par with the national standards being set by Bollywood, Telegu and Tamil films but the box office collections of Bengali cinema have been dismal to say the least. This is a result of the dwindling number of good theatres to showcase the movies.
To ensure that one can reach out to the avid movie lovers across West Bengal, one of the key initiatives is to improve the movie viewing experience of audiences in Eastern India by upgrading existing single screens and creating new multiplexes in small cities and town to showcase quality movies at an affordable price.
July 2013 marked the foray with the brand – V Cinemas, when a single screen was taken over and re-opened in a brand new avatar in Mogra, Hooghly District followed by V Cinemas – Gitanjali, Bolpur in 2014.

The decision to venture into Narendrapur, Krishnanagar, Basirhat and other far flung areas of West Bengal is intended to reach audiences and help them enjoy movies in the comfortable confines of cinemas rather than relying on pirated copies of movies on DVDs, mobiles and computers.
With this step, film viewing will be a different experience for the viewers for sure.
