New Bengali Film Babar Naam Gandhiji Stars Meet the Press

In the august presence of director Pavel, actors Kaushik Sen, Parambrata Chattopadhyay, Surojit, Srijita Chowdhury and others, the press conference of the upcoming Bengali film Babar Naam Gandhiji took place at The Conclave recently.

The story is about a boy named Kecho, aged about ten years. He is a professional beggar. He befriends a girl named Mimi. Kecho wants to get himself admitted in an English medium school. But for that, one requires the name of his father. He discovers that Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is his father. However proving that is a huge challenge for Kecho. He is helped by Pavel who heads a NGO. Whether he is successful or not is what the film all about.

Speaking at the occasion, Parambrata said “I was initially skeptical about the project. The first day I went to meet Pavel, I found myself face to face with a young boy. But when I heard the script I was bowled over. I was busy at that time with many films. However I took out time from one film or the other to complete thid film. The experience has been extremely pleasing. Shooting with the kids was the most challenging part. I have never been so challenged in my entire life”.

Kaushik Sen who played the role of a Tamil school teacher in the film was full of praises for the film’s director, Pavel. “I was initially quite irritated as the script lay in my house for the first few days. With so much work at that point of time, I was even thinking twice about whether I should accept the film or not. After the shoot began, I became engaged in the film and was actually thanking God that I didn’t say no”.

Debutant director Pavel urged the audiences to come and watch the film. “At least one person from a group should come and watch the film. If they like it, they can ask the others to come and watch the film. If they dislike it, they can state the same. But the main point is that one should come and watch the film. That actually matters!!”

Sayoni Ghosh, Arun Mukhopadhyay, Debdut Ghosh, Ritabrata Bhattacharya will be seen in important roles in the film. The music of the film is by Raja Narayan Deb.

The film is eyeing for release on 2nd October on Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday.
