Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsob announced
When the whole city of Kolkata is gearing up to welcom the Mother Goddess, Oxford Bookstore in association with Patra Bharati has come up with a unique Bengali Literary festival for the book loving city. The literary festival has been titled Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsob. In the august presence of Sirshendu Mukherjee, Swagat Sengupta, Tridib Kumar Chattopdhyay and Ms. Renu Kkkar, the Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsob was announced at Oxford Bookstore.
The Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsob is India’s first Bengali literary festival. Created in association with Patra Bharati, the festival will have eminent authors, film directors, poets and musicians participating in the daylong event. These personalities will be covering the various facets of Bengali literature.
Speaking at the occasion, Shirshendu Mukherjee said “Who says people do not read Bengali books or for that matter books in today’s time? That is a misconception. When you see the growth in the number of publishers, the number of copies sold, you can very well understand that book sales are good. Books are here to stay. I am not against e-books as they help in reducing the cutting of trees. So you can be assured that youngsters are reading books too!!”
Some of the eminent dignitaries who will be participating in this daylong event include Shirshendu Mukherjee, Nabaneeta Dev Sen, Samaresh Majumdar, Sankha Ghosh, Bani Basu, Gouam Ghose, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, Nachiketa, Surojit Chatterjee, Kalika Prasad, Sanjib Chatterjee and many others.
For the first time ever, the Wikipedia Bangla team will create original content coming out from this daylong event. Live blogging in English by the Kolkata Bloggers and live feed on Youtube will also enable many audiences to keep a tab on the events happening at this Bengali literary festival.
The event will take place on the 10th of October at Oxford Bookstore from 11am to 9.30 pm.
