Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsob 1st edition

In its first edition, India’s first Bengali literary festival titled Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsob was inaugurated at Oxford Bookstore, Park Street. The inauguration saw the presence of eminent authors like Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Samaresh Mazumdar, Sankha Ghosh and many others.

The opening session at the discussion was on whether the language of Bengali literature was undergoing changes across the border. Some of the other authors and poets who took part in animated discussions over the course of the day included Bani Basu, Pracheta Gupta, Dipanwita Roy, Subodh Sarkar and many others.

Personalities from the film and music fraternity also participated in the daylong event. Goutam Ghosh, Suman Mukhopadhyay, Mainak Bhoumik spoke on the topic whether adaptation is better- books to movies or vice versa.

The literary festival broke new grounds as it was beamed live worldwide on Youtube with live blogging in both Bengali and English from the venue.

The daylong Bengali literary festival was a huge success in its very first year and we hope that this will have a second edition in the coming year too.
