Sunetra Ghatak’s book Ekdin Jeyona Hariye Launched
“Sunetra” was how Aparna Sen lovingly used to call Sunetra Ghatak (daughter of ace director Ritwik Ghatak and mother of actor Parambrata Chatterjee). The ace director-actress was present along with writer Bani Basu to launch “Ekdin Jeyona Hariye” – a collection of 11 stories written by Sunetra Ghatak and published by Lalmati Prakashan.
Abir Chatterjee, Srijit Mukherji, Koneenica, Aniruddha Roy Choudhury, Kaushik Ganguly and others were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the occasion, Parambrata Chatterjee said “My mother and I were like a team. Her passing away is something which is still unacceptable to me. Hence I have refrained from writing words like Late in front of her name. My mother wrote a book Astaboler Golpo from Proma Prakasoni. The publication company ceased to exist and the book was never republished. She got engaged in various other jobs as she was a multi-tasker. However she regretted not having done anything for the book. So I took the initiative of re-publishing the book and bringing it out for the readers”.
Aparna Sen who released the book described Sunetra Ghatak as a bright lady who was full of life. “I was shocked the day I heard of her demise. She was younger than us. Param is very dear to me and when I asked him whether he was very close to his mother, the answer he gave me was heart wrenching. He said that her mother was the reason he went back home. This highlights the relationship that Param shared with his mother” said Aparna Sen.
Aparna Sen also read out excerpts from the book for the assembled audience too.
The book is readily available at all the leading book stores all over the city.
