Amitabh Bachchan in Kolkata at Wazir Press Conference
Big B who is present in the city for the shooting of director Ribhu Dasgupta’s TE3N, attended the press conference of the upcoming Hindi film Wazir. The superstar came directly from the shooting of the film and answered questions asked by the journalists.
“The film Wazir is directed by Bejoy Nambiar. The film is the tale of a paralyzed chess grandmaster and a grief stricken ATS officer. They are brought together by a twist of fate which is part of a wider conspiracy casting a shadow over the lives of these two individuals. I play the role of Pandit Omkarnath Dhar, while Farhan plays the role of Daaish Ali and Aditi plays the role of Ruhana Ali” said the superstar setting the balls rolling for the press conference.
Big B said “Farhan used to play with Abhishek as kids. Javed saab and I have done many films together. I am glad that Farhan has grown up to become such a multi-talented persona now. Aditi on the other is a soft and gentle lady who has great acting prowess. It was a pleasure working with the two of them”.
Since Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of the paralyzed chess grandmaster, the actor revealed how he along with Vidhu Vinod Chopra had to spend a huge amount of time while making the selection of the wheelchair. “Since I will be spending a considerable amount of time shooting on the wheelchair, Vidhu Vinod Chopra made me see about fifty chairs to ensure I was comfortable during the shoots. We thought at first that I will fold my legs and sit on the chair. But that will be physically taxing. Hence we took the help of the visual effects team who made me wear a black stocking and the rest of their work is what you see on the screen” said the ace actor.
The actor who has fond memories of his association of the city said “I go out even today to take a stroll in the city. I miss the tram rides that I used to take earlier. As far as sweets are concerned I have given up on consuming sweets. However Rosogolla dipped in Misti Doi was a favorite fare for me”.
“I feel blessed that I am still getting roles in films at this age. I am glad so many young directors and actors still want to work with me. I always believe that you cannot know everything about films. It is a continuous learning process. The art of film making keeps on evolving and changing after every ten years. So one just keeps on learning!! That is the magic of films” said the ace actor.
The actor became nostalgic when questioned about football. “When we used to come to Kolkata, I remember going out to watch the East Begal- Mohun Bagan matches. I am glad Abhishek participated in ISL and his team won. Athletico is a good team and I wish them luck for the next season” said Amitabh Bachchan.
Apart from being a superstar, Amitabh Bachchan is also a doting grandfather. The actor revealed that he missed his granddaughter Aradhya. However he pointed out that with the advent of technology, things are not bad as he can connect with them via Skype and other ways.
The film Wazir has John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh , Manav Kaul in pivotal roles.
Jointly produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, the film Wazir is slated for release on the 8th of January 2016.
