New Hindi Film Airlift Stars Akshay and Nimrat in Kolkata
The film Airlift is based on real life incident which happened to Indian citizens who got stuck in war torn Iraq. The Indian government took a massive step to ensure that they could bring these citizens back to their country. As a part of the promotions of this soon to release film, Akshay Kumar along with his co-actor Nimrat Kaur was in the city recently.
Speaking about the incident, Akshay Kumar mentioned that he was not aware of this particular incident before he was actually offered the film. “The incident is in the Guinness World Records. The fact that no such evacuation had ever taken place before or after makes this even more important for every Indian to be aware of. Every Indian should watch this film” said the actor.
A lot of research has been done by the director Raja Krishna Menon, revealed Akshay Kumar. This is the reason why he had to do less research for portraying the character of Ranjit Katyal. “Ranjit plays the role of the negotiator who helps in saving the lives of the Indians stuck in Iraq at that time. This is an inspiring story and every scene will make you root for the characters you see on screen” added the actor.
When asked whether Akshay was focusing more on serious action films, the Khiladi said “I will be next shooting for Housefull 3 which is a slapstick movie. I have never confined myself to any particular genre. I have done Baby and I have done Singh is Bling too. However, on the personal level, I like doing patriotic films. The lives of those important individuals must be shown to the citizens of India”.
Nimrat Kaur who will be seen in the role of Ranjit Katyal’s wife in the film said “It was indeed a pleasure working with such a prolific actor like Akshay in my second film. He is actually my first co-star in the true sense. I just hope that I get to do different kinds of films in my entire career. The way my career is shaping up is quite good and I am happy”.
Airlift is slated for release on the 22nd of January.
