Drawing inspiration from real life incidents has always been on the list for many Bengali film makers. Director Arup Kumar Dey’s Aguner pakhi which is about the condition of the people living on the streets is also based on real life incidents. The shooting of the film was taking place at a studio in Kolkata.
The director had previously directed Sapath. Speaking in between the shots, the director said, “We keep reading in newspapers and watch various reports on television about various accidents on the pavements. The sad and the most tragic part is that the pedestrians do not bother to take the victims to the hospital for treatment. My film is essentially revolving around this incident”.
The film Aguner Pakhi is about a professor (Debshankar), who gets involved in a fire accident case. He decides to take a burnt victim to the hospital where she succumbs to her injuries and dies. Rituparna plays the role of a TV journalist, reports the entire incident. The story takes a nasty turn when the professor is forced to sign a statement on the case. I can’t reveal more than this at the moment.”
Rituparna Sengupta, Debshankar Haldar, Kharaj Mukherjee, Indrajeet, Sayani Dutta, Shantilal Mukherjee will be seen in this film. The film is reportedly a thriller which also has an underlying social message.
The music of this film has been composed by Kalyan Sen Barat and the film is currently being shot in different parts of Kolkata.
