Srijit Mukherji Film Rajkahini DVD Launch event
Srijit Mukherji’s critically acclaimed film Rajkahini’s DVD launch took place recently in the august presence of Srijit Mukherji, Parno Mitra, Koushik Sen, Indraadip Dasgupta and Ridhima Ghosh.
Speaking at the release of the DVD, Srijit Mukherji said “This is indeed good news for the audience who have not got the chance to watch the film on the big screen. They will be able to watch the film back at home. Whether they like the film or not is a completely different thing. But even for disliking the film, they will have to watch it”.
The film Rajkahini is about a brothel house which is situated on the border of India and Bangladesh. After the Partition of Bengal is announced, what happens to the brothel house and how the prostitutes react to this decision is what the film is all about.
Parno Mitra who played the role of Golaap in the film said “My mother will now watch the film finally. Due to her ill health she could not watch the film at the theatre. Now she will be able to watch it”.
Music director Indraadip Dasgupta who had grievances as there was no music release of the film said “I always believe in hard copies. Since there was no proper music launch of the film, this will be a good way to document the film and also the music”.
Srijit’s Hindi remake of Rajkahini will soon begin with Vidya Balan playing the role of Begum Jaan. The film is set in Punjab and has been titled Begum Jaan.
