The music launch of the upcoming Bengali film 9 No Peara Bagan lane took place recently. Present at the music release ceremony was Bratya Basu, director Ratri Ghatak, music director Soumitro, producer Gurupada Santra and others.
“This is my first debut as a director. I have worked behind the camera before. As an actress I have always wanted to direct a film. I was given the support by Pallab Mukherjee and our producer Gurupada Santra, who wanted to make a good Bengali film. We wanted a good Bengali story and so we selected this story by Saktipada Rajguru. We have just modified it to suit the times” said director Ratri Ghatak.
Ratri Ghatak also added that since all the actors were known to her beforehand, shooting the film was an extremely good experience. The debut director was also immensely confident that this film made for the Bengali audience will be appreciated here as well as abroad.
“I have done the music independently. There are four songs in the album and I am satisfied with the outcome. Unless the songs are perfect I am not satisfied. The songs are all made as per the situations of the film. The directors have given enough liberty to compose the songs in a good way” said music director Soumitro.
The cast of the film includes Priyanka Sarkar, Dolon Roy, Anuradha Roy, Bhaskar Banerjee, Arijit Chowdhury, Ratri Ghatak, Srijan and others in pivotal roles.
The film which received positive responses from the audiences and critics alike when shown at the recently concluded Kolkata International Film Festival is slated for release soon.
