The first look launch of the upcoming Bengali film Baghini took place in the august presence of director Nehal Dutta and the cast members of the film.
The film Baghini tells the story of a girl named Indira Bandopadhyay who hails from a middle class family. She is much influenced by the thoughts and ideologies of her father. From a very small age, she protests against any wrong doing. When a rich individual’s car hits her friend and tries to go away to avoid the doctor bills, she protests against it. She makes the person pay the bills for her friend who was hurt by the car. Slowly she grows up and joins a national political party. But she understands this will not solve the problem of the people of Bengal. Hence she comes back to Bengal and forms her own party. What happens next is what the film all about. Baghini in short is the tale of an ordinary girl who becomes extraordinary.
Speaking at the occasion, director Nehal Dutta said “The audience may relate the film with the present Chief Minister of West Bengal. As a film maker I do not mind that relation. However, I will like to point out that there are no slangs used against any party. This is just a film showcasing the struggles of an ordinary girl who becomes extraordinary by her merits and will power”.
The actors in the film are all newcomers and the only veteran actor in the film is Phalguni Chatterjee. Director Nehal Dutta said “I wanted someone without any image. Hence the dire need to cast new faces without any image pressure on them. Hence I cast Ananya for showing the young age of the lady, Alokananda for the middle age and Ruma Chakroborty for showing the lady in her present age”.
The film is slated for release in April.
