Video: Kolkata International Short Film Festival Inauguration
“With the advent of technology, there have been some good changes. For instance we now have smart phones in our hands and this has given the chance to budding film makers to make short films and show it to the audience. However the drawback is that not everyone with a camera can become a film maker. However the growing importance of short films cannot be negated as both famous directors as well as budding film makers are taking this way to reach out to the audience” said director Shekhar Das at the inauguration of the Kolkata International Short Film Festival 2016.
The inaugural event also saw the presence of eminent dignitaries like Gautam Ghosh, Bimal Dey, Sumanta Roy and others. Short film maker and journalist Chandan Dodo Ray performed a medley of songs at the inaugural event and kept the audiences mesmerized.
Organized by Kolkata Cine-Docu-Short Foundation, the three day long festival will have thirty short films and documentaries being shown to the audience. Some of the short films and documentaries which will be shown include wheel Chair (Joy Chakraborty), Sadharan Meyer Galpo and Enlightened (Chandan Dodo Ray), Parampara (Debjoy Banerjee), Sesher Kobita (Rajdeep Bose), Pootoo (Sovan Dasgupta), Khoj (Suraj Mallick), Khal Nayak (Siddharth Banerjee), Fledge (Subhasish Mitra) and others.
The special Jury will judge and award prizes in various sections namely Best Short Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Short film Actor, Best Short film Actress, Best short film Music, Special jury award for short film, Best short film music and so on.
A special award will go to the director of a short film which scored the maximum number of votes from the audience who watched these films at the festival.
Festivals of this will surely be a huge boost for the budding film makers and also provide them with a platform to showcase their talents.
