FIMA Magic Fair 2016 Held in Kolkata; An Initiative to Promote and Encourage the art of Magic

Organized by Federation of Indian Magic Associates (FIMA), the third National Level Magic Fair was held at Rabindra Sadan premises. Held from 9th to 13th of March, the four day event saw active participation from magicians from all over the country.

The inauguration ceremony took place in the august presence of eminent dignitaries like Subrata Chowdhury, Shekhar Kar, Subrata Sen, Amar Sen and others. The Royal Riders Club Kolkata members took part in a blind fold bike rally from Park Street Church to Rabindra Sadan prior to the inauguration of this four day magic fair.

Some of the acts which were shown to the assembled audience included close up, conjuring, impromptu magic show, madari act, hand shadow graphy, juggling, street magic, fire act and others. Panel discussions and magic workshops were also conducted to propagate magic among the interested individuals.

Stalls were put up so that the common people could buy magic props and perform simple magic at their homes. Specialized magic props designed exclusively for the magicians were also on display at this fair. This was done so as to make magic accessible to the common people.

Some of the magicians who performed at this four day event included Allahbaksh Saheb (performed madar ka khel), Mandar Patil (Maharashtra), A. Kumar Senior, Uday Bhaskar (comedy act and ventriloquism), Ajay Mohanty (smart act), Rajat Narasimham (drama and magic) and others.

Ten year old Krish was the youngest magician to perform at this four day event side by side with experienced magicians.

FIMA Magic Fair 2016 was therefore a great initiative to bring the magicians and the common people on a common platform and share some magic!!
