Director Tathagata Banerjee Starts Shooting for his Next ‘Mondobasar Golpo’; A Psychological Love Story Starring Parambrata and Paoli

Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent caught actors Parambrata Chatterjee and Kaushik engaged in playing snooker. If you are wondering what the two actors were up to, then be assured that they were not idling away their time but were shooting for director Tathagata Banerjee’s upcoming Bengali film Mondobasar Golpo.

The film Mondobasar Golpo is a psychological love story; a love story with a twist. “This is not the conventional love story. Mondobasa is the alter ego of Bhalobasha (love). What happens when bad things dwell in your heart? The film depicts the love story between a film maker in her thirties and a musician/actor who is in his twenties. It has Parambrata playing the role of a renowned psychiatrist Dr. Sayantan Chowdhury  Hence, there is a film within a film” said the story and script writer Sanjib Banerji who is also the film’s creative director.

Paoli Dam and Parambrata have worked together numerous times before in films like Kalbela, Hercules and others; their last project together being Srijit Mukherji’s Zulfikar. “Parambrata liked the story so much that he decided to start shooting for the film before going to Miami to start with director Suman Ghosh’s next film ‘Mi Amor’. The lead actors of Mondobasar Golpo have indeed worked together before, but Parambrata has never before played a psychiatrist and I hope to treat these characters differently so as to give the audiences something new” said director Tathagata Banerjee. After returning from Miami, Parambrata will continue with the shooting of this film.

Sanjib-Banerji-new-film Sayani Ghosh will be seen in the role of a Media Strategist Mallika, Anindya Chatterjee in the role of an inquisitive journo as well as Koushik Mitra (producer of films like Choukatha and Aranyadeb) in the role of a NRI businessman from New Jersey Anurag Bhattacharya. The film also stars Dipankar Dey, Indrasish Roy and others in pivotal roles. Ashok Bhadra is composing the music of the film, which has four songs in it. Three songs will feature in the film and one song will be used for the promotion of the film.

A major part of the film will be shot in Kolkata and some songs will be shot in North Bengal.

The film is eyeing for a Pre-Puja release.
