Video: Oparthibo Book Launch with Celebs
“I have always been afraid of ghosts, but I have been equally intrigued by them. As a result of this, I end up watching ghost films. Though I do not watch them alone at all!! Whatever may be your age, you simply cannot ignore ghosts” said actress Pallavi Chatterjee at the book release of Oparthibo. Also present at the book launch was Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua and Tridib Chatterjee, Director, Patrabharati.
Written by Debasish Chaudhury the book has fourteen supernatural phenomena encountered by the author during his visits to different parts of the country. “I felt the need to write these encounters down so that people could read about them. I have heard many encounters which I felt were not real. I have omitted them. I have just written down those encounters which I felt had the credibility” said the author.
Dibyendu Barua said “I admit that I am very afraid of ghosts. Even if I have to watch ghost films, I make sure that I am watching it with my entire family around me. I am more scared of the Indian ghosts than I am of the foreign ghosts. This is the reason why I find it easy to stay alone abroad rather than in India. And I have never been much of a reader and ghost stories are certainly not my domain”.
Actress Pallavi Chatterjee lamented the fact that not much ghost films have been made in Bengali despite so many ghost stories written in Bengali. The actress also has plans of making a web series on ghost stories soon.
Priced at Rs 100, the book has been brought out by Patrabharati.
