Video: Actress Paoli Dam in conversation with Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee
A once in a month affair, Conversations presented by The Palms Restaurant saw the first edition of the show proudly presented by Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee. The first dialogue session had the renowned actress Paoli Dam as the guest. Some of the other eminent dignitaries present at the event included Chaitali Dasgupta, Paramita Munsi, Alokanada Roy, Sudarshan Chakraborty, Satrajit Sen and others.
Speaking about the event, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee said, “Conversations comes naturally to me as I am an elocutionist, actor and an artist in my own right. The idea behind this talk show is that the city does not have such live talk shows here. And so I thought of starting this. The Palms is the ideal place for such an event as people can gorge on good food and also witness the event. The reason why I chose Paoli is because her sensibility is attractive. And I have always been attracted to people with sensibilities”.
Paoli Dam shared the fact that as a student in chemistry she never thought that she would achieve much success in the film industry. She dreamt to be a research scholar but found her “chemistry with films”. Her moral support was her parents who despite being from middle class backgrounds have always backed her dreams. Her mother who is a singer wanted her to learn singing. But the actress revealed that she was too relaxed to put in so much effort in singing and hence she could not master the art.
She said that during her student life she joined television to earn some pocket money. Her first success as an actress was playing the role of Madhabilata in Kaalbela. But films like Chatrak and Hate story gave her criticisms. She went on to add, “My life has seen both success and criticism. The criticisms in my life have made me more strong and successful in my career. I have also realized that if I can accept the success then I must learn to accept the criticisms as well”. The actress had the latent dream of acting in a Tagore’s Sesher Kobita. “However a film has already been made on Sesher Kbita” lamented the actress.
The evening saw The Palms Restaurant as a perfect host with delectable snacks such as Royal Harabhara Kebab, Double Fried Chicken Japanese Style, Mahi Kolbara, Makhani Karabi and other appetizers making the round paired with some delectable mocktails as well.
Conversations will be a once a month chat show at The Palms Restaurant with artistes from various walks of life participating in engaging conversations about their work and struggle.
