Video: Designer Anamika Khanna in Conversation
Starmark in association with Penguin Books India organized an engaging conversation titled “Indulge your mind…the arts are not a lost cause!” The event saw the presence of ace fashion designer Anamika Khanna, Priyanka Mookerjee, author of Hedon. The event was moderated by Hemchhaya De, Regional Editor (East), Femina.
Speaking at the occasion, Anamika Khanna said “In our country, even today arts is considered a feminine subject. Arts are not given the place it deserves. More stress is laid upon the science and commerce subjects. But that must not be the case. Arts subjects are equally important in day to day life”.
Priyanka Mookerjee who left her corporate job to pursue a career in writing mentioned that writing is not that easy as many people think it to be. “When the book comes out, it is glamorous for the author. But the amount of hard work and amount of editing that the writer does to publish the book is enormous. People think that the writer can write a great sentence in one chance. But the truth is one has to toil for many hours to get the perfect line”.
Anamika Khanna added “When I say, I hardly get some time-many people stare at me. They think that the only thing I do is draw and cut clothes. But they often forget that I have to keep up with the recent fashion trends so that my clothes are at par with the international standards. That take time and a huge amount of effort”.
The conversation with the three ladies was engaging and kept the audiences hooked to their seats till the very end.
