Colors Bangla Serial E Amar Gurudakshina Adapted From Bengali Film Gurudakshina

Colors Bangla’s new serial E Amar Gurudakshina is an adaptation of the Anjan Chowdhury directed film Gurudakshina which released in 1987. The film featured Tapas Pal, Shatabdi Roy, Kali Banerjee, Ranjit Mullick in pivotal roles.

The backdrop of the story is set in the suburban area of West Bengal. Saheb is a young and vibrant man whose only passion in life is his singing. He belongs to a middle class family and dreams of becoming a famous singer one day. Shoi is a happy-go-lucky girl who is born and brought up in a wealthy family. She dreams of building her successful career through singing. When the two collides, hue of hatred, love and music fills the aura.

Actor Biswaroop Banerjee plays the role of Saheb in the serial. “I will be playing this role which has been made so popular by Tapas Pal. I am grateful that Tapas Pal who is also acting in the same serial is giving me tips on how to enact the role better. I had seen the film before and I again watched it before I started acting in the serial” said the actor.

Janardan Roy who is a businessman by profession is the character played by actor Dipankar Dey. “I am a flamboyant character. I run the music industry but I am very weak towards my live in partner Damini. She has hypnotized Janardan and he is helpless in front of her. This is a different kind of a serial as this is not the typical serials that one watch on television in recent times” said the actor.

Actor Debdutt Ghosh plays the role of Pronoy Sen in the serial. “I earn more money and hence I look down upon the others who earn less than me. He tortures the good people like Saheb. He acts as a catalyst in the serial. The serial has a lot of Bengali emotions with which the audience will be able to relate with” said Debdutt Ghosh.

The serial has been directed by Amol Chakraborty and Suman Roy. “We chose Gurudakshina simply because director Anjan Chowdhury could reach out to the hearts of the people like no other director. So we took up this film for adapting it into a serial. The serial is a musical also. Apart from the Adhunik songs, there will be many more melodious songs in the serial. Kumar Sanu’s Koto je sagor nodi will also be played in one episode. Hopefully the audience will be able to relate with the music in the serial” said director Amol Chakraborty.
