Chinese Film Festival Begins in Kolkata; Rituparna Sengupta Graces Inauguration Ceremony



Consulte General of People’s Republic of China in Kolkata in association with Nandan West Bengal Film Centre hosted the Chinese Film Festival in Kolkata. The inauguration of this festival took place in the august presence of Rituparna Sengupta, Dinesh Trivedi, Yadav Mondal, Chinese Consul General Ma Zhanwu and others at Nandan.


The Chinese Film Festival is the first film event by the Chinese Consulate at Nandan. This is also the first joint venture between the Consulate and the West Bengal Government and also a screening of Chinese films for the first time in the city.

Some of the films which will be shown at the festival include Shanghai Calling, Monkey King, Fleet of Time, So Young, Not One Less, Nine Colored Deer and The Last Emperor.


Speaking at the inauguration, actress Rituparna Sengupta said “I still remember the day when my father took me out to see the film The Last Emperor. This is indeed a great initiative. People should get the chance to watch these awesome Chinese films”.


Dinesh Trivedi pointed out the fact that Chinese cuisine is so very popular in Kolkata. “We have improvised so many new Chinese dishes that even the Chinese citizens will be astonished. This is high time that such an initiative was undertaken. This will surely strengthen ties and people will get to watch some amazing movies” said Dinesh Trivedi.

The Chinese Film Festival will continue till 20th July at Nandan.
