A recitation session titled Akti Sahobasher Rupkotha was organized at The Bengal Club. The initiative was taken by Mounita Chattopadhyay to pay special tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his 75th death anniversary.

The evening saw the presence of eminent dignitaries like Srikanto Acharya, Satyam Roy Chowdhury, Joy Sarkar, Ranjan Bandopadhyay and others.

The unique literary piece has been conceptualized and penned down by writer Ranjan Bandopadhyay. “I was asked by Mounita to write down a script. I even forgot about it. Few days ago when she told me about it, that I remembered it and realized what she had done to my simple script. The work she has done is experimental and is a fitting way of paying tribute to the Bard” said the writer.

The theme of the piece is the love between Tagore and the Padma River. The Bard had actually spent ten years of his life on the banks of the river and has a personal bond with the river.

Joy Sarkar has composed the music and Moumita Chattopadhyay has lent her voice to the seven minutes long poem. The poem was launched for the first time in Youtube channel.

Speaking at the occasion, Mounita said “I have been helped a lot by the team working on this project. Joy da during the recording often pointed out the way I could recite some words so as to make it sound better. I hope people like it”.

A jugalbandi of Sarod by Dr. Rajeeb Chakraborty and poetry by Mounita Chattopadhyay later followed on.
