The FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), an exclusive women’s wing of the national organization FICCI organized an interactive session on The World of Entertainment- A Serious Business. Ekta Kapoor was present at the occasion and the session was moderated by actor-director Arjun Chakaborty.

Ekta Kapoor who has gained much fame over the years for her serials and films engaged in a candid conversation with Arjun Chakraborty. She mentioned how she was partying and spending her time going out with friends as a teenager. It was on the advice of her father Jeetendra that she turned into a new leaf and decided to do something with her life. “Since I was not actress material and I did not want to go into films, the only option was television. Hence, I started with Hum Paanch. It gained popularity and helped me to get into the good books of the producers and the audience alike” said Ekta.

Whenever the time is not going well for Ekta, she heeds to the advice that her father gave her “Good time will pass and bad time will also pass likewise”.

When questioned whether she will venture into theatre, she said “I love watching theatre. I watch it every weekend. Though I have no wish of entering into this domain now, let us see what I do in the future”.

For Ekta who made her debut with a comedy serial, it was hard for her to venture into other domains. “People thought that I only could make comedies. It took a long time to break that idea. This actually scared me so much that I have not made any comedy soaps or serials ever” said Ekta with a laugh.

She also mentioned how having lesser choices can be a boon for many individuals. “Had I become an actress, it would have been easier for me to start my career, but sticking around would have been tough. But I struggled more than most kids of my age then and that taught me many things. Every curse is a blessing and every blessing is a curse” said Ekta.

Also spotted in the audience were dancers Alokananda Roy, designer Neelanjana Chakraborty, actress Payel Sarkar, Shreya Pandey and others.
