Anirban Guha’s Short Film Elixir to be Screened at 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival

After the successful screening at 69th Cannes Film Festival, Elixir, a short film directed by Anirban Guha and starring Mahul Brahma and Daminee Benny Basu, has been selected at the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival to be held on November 11 to November 18, 2016.  The film also won the Best Short Film at Boston’s Bengali Film Festival Caleidoscope.

Lead actor Mahul Brahma, a former journo and now a corporate communicator, said that it was a dream to watch the screening of the film at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Winning Best Short Film at Boston festival was a humbling experience. But selection in 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival is most cherished for the team, primarily because it is in this city of love and creativity – Kolkata.

The film is essentially talks about a mind-journey, a journey into soul and solitude. The story weaves itself around a woman and the parallel realities that she lives and yearns for. The Elixir helps her get into a dream world with her dream lover. She yearns for this imaginary life and prefers it to the reality that reminds her of her estranged husband and the failed marriage. She ends up in a mental asylum and is offered a final choice, another drink of Elixir.

Elixir has been successfully screened in Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad and now is slated to be screened in Kolkata.
