The first edition of Serendipity Arts Festival, a multi-disciplinary arts festival will be held in Goa from 16th-23rd December 2016.  The festival will present a series of interesting learning and education workshops to help initiate art lovers into a whole new world of technique and creativity.

One such initiative will be led by renowned playwright, theatre actor and director Mahesh Dattani and popular Bollywood actor, director and theatre artist Lillete Dubey who are joining hands to present the ‘Script Lab’.

An education initiative by the Serendipity Arts Trust, a Munjal initiative for the promotion of creativity and imagination in arts and culture, Script Lab is a four-day residency workshop that will be held during the first four days of the Festival – from 16th to 19th December. The purpose of this workshop is to introduce playwriting, tap talent, help with character development, constructive feedback and also to help writers turn a critical eye on their own works.

The intensive four-day residency program will include two days of instruction, one day of mentorship and will conclude with dramatized readings of the plays in an outdoor setting at the Festival.

The registration fee for the four-day workshop is INR 10,000/- which will include boarding, all meals, mentorship and materials required for the program. The 15 participants who were shortlisted in October will be put up at a lovely home-stay to encourage focused and personal interactions during the course of the residency program. The process of creating the script will begin in November with guidelines from Mahesh Dattani sent to participants at regular intervals over the course of 6-8 weeks.

Serendipity Arts Festival will be the first of its kind, multi-disciplinary arts event that will be the first edition in a long-term cultural project that hopes to affect positive change in the arts in India on a large scale. The selection of curators, the festival structure, and the programming itself all represent a sincere effort to address the creative needs, aspirations and potential of contemporary India.
