Premangshu Roy’s Next Film Chilekotha to Begin Shooting in December; A Film On Nostalgia of Bengali Community

After Katakuti and Gondho, Premangshu Roy is back with Chilekotha. The announcement of director Premangshu Roy’s film Chilekotha took place recently in the presence of Ritwick Chakraborty, Dhritiman Chatterjee and others.

The story of the film Chilekotha begins in 2016 but it flows through 1940’s till 1970. This is a biography drama which is about nostalgia. Animesh Chattopadhyay (Dhritiman Chatterjee) who comes back to India from USA after his retirement. His only son lives in USA with his family. Due to his love for his country he comes back. One day after returning to India, he has a dream in which young Animesh(Ritwick Chakraborty) arrives at his door and takes the old Animesh back to good old days. He goes to the joint family and to the Chilekotha. He meets Phulkaka (Bratya Basu), his first love in the next terrace and so on. What happens next is what the film all about.

Speaking at the occasion, director Premangshu Roy said “This film is a documentation of the nostalgia of Bengalis. I feel that we are the only community who has not well maintained the tradition. If you look at any other community, they have remained rooted to their tradition. Even our films have become a mixture of different elements. With this film I hope to bring to notice the people of the heritage that we have”.

The film is slated to start shooting from 7th December.
