FICCI FLO’s Organized Interactive Session With Dr. Chhavi Rajawat; First and Youngest Lady Sarpanch of India

The FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO), an exclusive women’s wing of the national organization FICCI organized an interactive session with Dr. Chhavi Rajawat, the first and the youngest lady Sarpanch of India. The lady was engaged in a riveting conversation by Anupama Sureka, Chairperson of FLO Kolkata.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Rajawat said “When someone ask what is the opposite of light, we say dark. When we are asked the opposite of men, we say women. But that is not true. Men and women complement each other. They complement each other and help to make a better society”.

Dr. Rajawat left her bright corporate career to help in the development of rural India. When asked about what motivatrd her to take up this challenge, she said “People do not have the time to tell the youth about values. I saw all this and I was also deeply concerned about the issues in my village where I grew up. My father then told me that if I want to join politics, then I must have a dialogue with the villagers. I left my job and came here so as to develop a rapport with them and gain their trust. Only then will they share their issues and I can then try to help them out”.

Dr. Rajawat has been working to bring better solar power, water, paved roads, toilets and a bank to her village Soda. She also focused on the empowerment of the women in the villages.

The session saw the presence of eminent celebrities like Usha Uthup, Alokananda Roy and others.
