Video: Upcoming Bengali Film Baranda Announced
Easel-An Atrayee Nirman Initiative announced the third film of their production named Baranda. The film is based on a story by ace Bengali writer Moti Nandi.
The press conference to announce the film was done in the presence of director Reshmi Mitra, Rituparna Sengupta, Sreela Majumder, Saheb Bhattacharjee, Raja Narayan Deb, Atashi and others. The logo of the production house was also unveiled at the event.
Runu is the daughter of a poor nurse who also used to engage in prostitution to earn extra money. Her unemployed father used to wait outside while her mother handled the clients. Mohan and Girija used to come to the house as her mother’s customers. Runu lost her mother and Girija lost one of his legs in the accident. Runu and Girija found solace in each other and stayed together for 15 years without getting married. Mohan became jealous as he could not get her. Life went on as usual. It was after the entry of paying guest Ambar that Runu got a fresh lease of life. She wanted to give her all to him. What happens next??
Speaking about his character, Saheb said “I play the role of a footballer in the film who come from the suburbs to Kolkata. This reminded me of my father who also did the same. I am excited to have bagged this role”.
Rituparna Sengupta who had worked with the director in Mukti was full of praises for the director. She also added that it was time that film makers stopped making remakes and focused on the literary sources to make films. The audiences will be pleased to watch such films.
The music and background score is by Raja Narayan Deb. The cinematography is by Badal Sarkar. The screenplay and dialogues is by Moloy Bandopadhyay and Reshmi Mitra.
The film has already begun shooting in different parts of Kolkata.
