BBC award winning world percussionist and music director Abhishek Basu along with singer Jojo Mukherjee and team Vedatronics performed an hour and half long of electro-world music. The event was for CIMA AWARDS. The Cima Awards is Kolkata arts festival which is curated by Oindrilla Dutt.
To Indian Classical singers namely Ivy Banerjee and Sayantan Bhowmick, rendered some soulful compositions, and mesmerized the audience with their versatility. Abhishek Basu said “It was due to my arranger and pianist Avik Ganguly, that I made this project, and it was wonderful to see Avik doing so many things at one time on stage. From performing on keyboards, managing the laptop and performing the launch pad, he did a fantastic job. His Western solo compositions like Hey Krishna and Funk Sutra, deserves special mention”.
Saxophonist Anup Chatterjee also performed at the event. Abhishek Basu himself performed a short tabla solo, and kept the crowd mesmerized with some Karnatik Konnakols and chick drumming.
The show ended with a performance faagun, based on Raag Sohini, to enhance the essence of Holi which is just around the corner.
