Week Long Children Film Festival Organized; An Initiative to Enhance Creativity in Children



The Children Film Society of India (CFSI) organized a Children Film Bonanza at Kalamandir. The nine days long (1st March to 9th March) Children film Festival came to an end with a grand event.

50 students from Monovikas Kendra, 100 students from Satalkalsa High School, 50 students from Kakdwip Govt Sponsored Girls’School, 50 students from Akshayanagar Vidyaniketan, 50 students from Kheyanagar High School came for the mega event. Students enjoyed the movie ‘Gattu’ which was screened on the last day of this festival.


Among present during the festival were Mr. Ujjal Kumar Chowdhury (Vice Chancellor – Ramoji Krian University, Hyderabad), Mr. Chura Mani Mahato (Minister – in – charge Backward Class Welfare Dept, Govt. of WB), Mr. Arindam Sil (Actor & Director) and other eminent personalities.

Mr. Arindam Sil requested CFSI to organize more Children Film Festivals. He asked the students to ask their teachers to show some movies like Gupi Gyen Bagha Bayen, Hirak Rajar Deshe, Joy Baba Felunath, Sonar Kella, which will help to shape their life.

The objective of the festival was to encourage and develop the creative thinking of the children and to make them more communicative.

The weeklong festival started from 01 March to 07 March and a selection of 3 films was shown to children at various schools in Kolkata. The pictures selected in the festivals were Ek Tuk ro Chand, Hirer Angti and Gattu.
