Video:Interview: Actress Tina Philip on Ek Aastha Aisi Bhi

Ek Aastha Aisi Bhi is the newest offering of STAR Plus in its upcoming afternoon slot, STAR dopahar. Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent caught up with the new actress Tina Philip who is playing Aastha in this soap. Excerpts…

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana- How did you bag the role of Aastha?

Tina Philip- I am from London, UK. My family stays there. I always had the passion for acting and hence I used to take part in experimental theatre. I used to write plays too. I came from UK and settled in Mumbai. I was auditioning and this is how I bagged the role.

Tell us about Aastha..

Tina Philip- Aastha is from Manali and is settled in a Marwari business family in Kolkata. Her character believes in the goodness of the heart over religious norms and rituals. She believes in serving humanity which is her way of pleasing God and not by the religious practices one usually undertakes. She respects everyone’s perspective but follows her own selfless measures of always helping anybody who needs her help.

How did you prepare yourself for the role?

Tina Philip- We had workshops and apart from that I had to learn yoga.  Watched videos on You Tube and learnt yoga. I think that you need to have some interest in what you want to do. Otherwise preparing months before the shooting is not much helpful.

How is Tina similar to Aastha?

Tina Philip- I am similar in some aspects to Aastha. Like I also believe that by doing good deeds, one can help humanity more. But I am not as good as Aastha is. She is a good human being.

How was the experience of shooting in Kolkata?

Tina Philip- It was a good experience no doubt. Aastha gets lost in Kolkata and it is in this way that she gets to see the Howrah Bridge and many other good places in Kolkata. And yes I must add that the food is too good. I had many fish dishes. They are so delicious.

What is your expectation from the serial?

Tina Philip- This is a new concept and I hope that the film will watch it. They hopefully will love Aastha too. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

This serial will be aired from April 3, 2017 at 1:30pm every Monday-Saturday on Star Plus. Wishing Tina all the best!!
