Interview of Musician Pavlu Banerjee on Making a Mark in the Music Industry (Sholoana Bangaliana Exclusive)



Musician Pavlu Banerjee hails from a music family and started composing music from a young age. The musician has been making a mark in the music scenario with his projects. Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent caught up with the talented musician. Excerpts..

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana- When did you start your music training??

Pavlu- I started learning music when I was a 1St year English Hons Student.

Who inspired you to enter the world of music??

Pavlu- Ace singer Gautam Chattopadhyay of Mohiner Ghoraguli inspired me to enter the world of music.

Tell us something about the albums that you have released.

Pavlu- I want to create social awareness through my songs. My first solo album “Spondon Khoron” got released in January 2016. It consisted of nine original songs where I have been the lyricist, composer, arranger and vocalist. Many of the songs depicted the dark side of the society like Bhrunhottya dealt with female foeticide, Nirbhaya about the Delhi bus rape and murder, Sonagachi dealt about legalization of sex trade to decrease human and child trafficking. Spondon khoron dealt with decaying face of modern human society.

My first English solo album as a lyricist, composer, arranger and vocalist “Long Way to Go” consisted of 8 original songs and was released on February 2017. It talked about several social issues like the artificiality of the society and the maya that surrounds us in our earthly life. The albums and the songs are already available in Youtube, itunes, amazon, spotify, saavn, gaana and musicindiaonline etc.


What kind of music attracts you??

Pavlu- I love all kinds of music from eastern classical to death metal. But my personal favorite genre is heavy metal.

What is the next project that you have in mind??

Pavlu- I am working on my second English Solo album “Hope of a better world” where we are coming up with a very different sound and with more strong lyrics.

Do you have plans of composing music for films??

Pavlu- Yes I would love to compose for films in future.

Who is your favorite singer??

Pavlu- My favorite singer is Bruce Dickenson of Iron Maiden. He is my idol.

Reality shows have become so popular now. What is your take on such shows??

Pavlu- I think it is good for people who want to pursue a career in commercial music.

Lastly where do you see yourself in the next five years??

Pavlu- After 5 years I want to see myself as a better human being and as a better musician.
