Pratyay is a non-profit organization headed by Raju Sen Sarma. This organization organized the Dumdum Classical Music Festival on 15th April-16 April on the occasion of Poila Boisakh at Rabindra Bhavan, Dum Dum.
With support from Hon’ble minister Prof. Bratya Basu as its mentor, Pratyay presented a two day long Hindustani classical music festival. This is arguably the biggest ever of its kind music festival that happened in North Kolkata.
The music festival was inaugurated by Bratya Basu, Sougata Roy, Raju Sen Sarma and other eminent dignitaries. The two days classical festival featured artistes like Bickram Ghosh, Begum Parveen Sultana, Pt Hariprasad Chourasia, Pt Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Ustad Rashid Khan, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma. The eminent musicians were accompanied by Pt Anindo Chatterjee, Pt Subhankar Banerjee, Pt.Tanmoy Bose, Pt Abhijeet Banerjee, Pt Jyoti Goho.
Bratya Basu said that this idea had long rested in his mind. North Kolkata always lacked this kind of a music festival despite the fact that there were a huge number of listeners in this area. With this initiative, the music lovers in this area will be able to listen to some fantastic music on this Poila Boisakh.
The two day music festival surely kept the audience mesmerized and fulfilled their wishes of a proper music festival in this part of the city.
