The Neotia University, one of the leading self-financed private Universities in West Bengal organized an International Conference on “Energy Options for Tomorrow: Technology to Sustainability” from 17th – 19th April at Eco Vista, New Town. Former Governor of West Bengal, Shri M. K. Narayanan inaugurated the conference.
Well known academicians from some of the best institutes in India and abroad, such as, IISc, IITs, Jadavpur University, IIEST, CGCRI-CSIR, MNRE, Trinity College Dublin and The University of Edinburgh attended the conference. They delivered talks on topics ranging from conversion of electric power from non-conventional energy sources, storage of electrical power and its distribution through intelligent grids etc. A panel discussion on “New technologies and policies in energy sector for growth and sustainability” was also organized.
In addition to senior academicians and industry persons, more than sixty young researchers presented results of their recent research work in the form of posters and oral presentations.
Prof. A. S. Kolaskar, Vice Chancellor of TNU has pointed out that the aim of the conference is to provide a platform for young researchers to present their work and interact with senior academicians and industry persons. He also mentioned that TNU is keen to take up major research and development projects in energy storage and distribution along with industry. TNU is the only university in India that has B.Tech programme in Energy Engineering. TNU has signed a MoU with Adani Power Limited and will soon sign MoU with India Power Corporation Limited.
